SUBMITTED BY:                     Andrew Hynes, P.E., Deputy Director/City Engineer

BOARD/COMMISSION REVIEW:
The Riverwalk Planning, Design, and Construction Committee reviewed the Master Plan document in detail over the past four months.

BACKGROUND:

The Riverwalk 2031 Master Plan was last updated on November 8, 2023.  It is the goal of the Riverwalk Commission to review the plan periodically to determine if any projects, cost estimates, timing and graphics should be revised.  The Riverwalk Planning, Design and Construction Committee initiated the refresh beginning at their August 5, 2025 meeting with the aim of continuing discussions and finalizing the updated version for Riverwalk Commission approval by the end of the year.

DISCUSSION:

The Riverwalk Planning, Design, and Construction Committee discussed final edits to the updated 2031 Riverwalk Master Plan document at the December 2nd meeting. A copy of the draft document is attached.

Revisions to the document primarily consist of:

Updating the status of completed projects

Refining the scope of various upcoming projects to reflect updated information and public or Riverwalk Commission input

Adjusting cost estimates based on current market conditions or scope changes

Updating the Plan introduction, photos, graphics, and miscellaneous text edits throughout the document

One project, the Artist’s Overlook, was removed from the Plan based on concerns about the project benefits and feasibility.
