BACKGROUND:
The Naperville Electric Utility (Utility) has used Oracle database software since 2011 to store, validate, and manage its metering data. Oracle database software is the industry standard for this application and is fully integrated with the Utility’s meter data management system (MDMS) and Empower customer portal.
DISCUSSION:
The Oracle annual license allows the Utility to continue to operate the Oracle database software, obtain updates to remediate security vulnerabilities and receive technical support for issues beyond the expertise of City staff.
Staff has identified an approved State of Illinois cooperative contract, IL DOIT CMT1116440, through Mythics, LLC for the procurement of the Oracle support renewal.
The term begins January 13, 2025, and ends January 12, 2026.
FISCAL IMPACT:
CIP#: N/A
Oracle database support is expensed to the Software and Hardware Maintenance account listed below. This award is for the 2025 renewal and as a result, there will not be expenses realized until 2025. Although the 2025 budget is still being developed, the Electric Utility did include $159,500 in their proposed 2025 budget for Oracle database support. Staff will ensure there are sufficient funds in the final 2025 budget to accommodate this request.
