BACKGROUND:
On December 2, 2022, Elizabeth Zega filed an objection with the City’s local election official concerning Nag Jaiswal’s nomination filing for the office of City Council.
The filing of an objection requires the City to impanel its Electoral Board so that a hearing may be held on the objections.
The City’s Electoral Board is comprised of the chief executive (Mayor Chirico), the clerk of the district (Dr. Gallahue), and the longest-serving legislator (Councilman Hinterlong).
On December 6, 2022, the original objection and the original nomination papers were personally delivered to the Electoral Board Chair, Mayor Chirico.
Mayor Chirico called the initial electoral board meeting to take place on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. in the City Council Chambers located within the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St., Naperville, IL.
It is anticipated that all three objections received by the City will have a hearing on that date.
