SUBMITTED BY: Pam Gallahue, PhD, Director
In 2015, the DuPage Monarch Project: Communities Protecting Pollinators was created. Its mission is to make DuPage County pollinator friendly by increasing awareness of the decline of native bees and butterflies and by encouraging public and private landowners to provide healthy habitats in their gardens, parks and landscaping.
The DuPage Monarch Project identified Naperville’s sustainability and biodiversity priorities and invited the City to join its coalition to support the health and resilience of Monarch butterflies and other pollinators.
At its February 7, 2023 meeting, the City Council directed staff to draft a resolution in support of the DuPage Monarch Project and to include commitments based on the City’s resources and strategic plans.
