BACKGROUND:
The landscaping restoration program restores landscaping at private residential properties, commercial properties and public rights-of-ways damaged as a result of Public Utilities (Electric and Water) and Public Works maintenance projects. Work is on-going during construction season and includes turf restoration, hardscape restoration, landscape planting, sprinkler repair and other landscape related repairs.
City Council awarded Contract 17-045 to Alaniz Landscape Group on April 5, 2017 for a two-year term with three, one-year options to extend the contract. At the February 20, 2018 City Council meeting, staff mistakenly sent a recommendation to approve the first option year thinking that the original term was one year rather than two years. This award was in error because the original term was for two years from May 1, 2017 to April 30, 2019.
DISCUSSION:
The Alaniz Landscape Group has performed well providing landscape restoration services for the past two years and has agreed to renew the contract for an additional year with no increase in costs. Staff recommends the extension to Contract 17-045 for the first option year.
The term of the extension is May 1, 2019 through April 30, 2020 with two option years remaining.
