BACKGROUND:
The Fifth Annual Naperville Women's Half Marathon and 5K is sponsored by 10xEM, LLC. Nick Lynch, owner of 10xEM, has been involved in this event since its inception. City staff has also partnered with 10xEM on logistics for the Naperville Sprint Triathlon for many years.

The temporary traffic controls and Special Event and amplifier permits were approved at the March 21, 2023 City Council Meeting (File 23-0269). Since that time, the event organizer has requested revisions to the 5K route. As such, road closures south of Chicago Avenue and north of Prairie Avenue are necessary. All other event logistics remain the same.

DISCUSSION:
The route and traffic control plans are depicted on the attached maps. The course closures are staggered and will be expertly managed by the Naperville Police Department and the Department of Public Works. The roads will reopen as runners clear each course section and are deemed appropriate by public safety personnel.

The Half Marathon will begin at 7:00 a.m. and the 5K will begin at 7:15 a.m. The last runner is expected to cross the finish line by 10:30 a.m. Select portions of the race route will be No Parking/Tow Zones and posted accordingly.

Course Flow
The organizer is estimating 3,000 participants and the course will keep runners east of the core downtown area.
