BACKGROUND:
Pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/8-2-9.9 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes the tentative annual budget must be made available to the public at least 10 days prior to its adoption. A public hearing must then be conducted before the adoption of the annual budget and notice of that public hearing must be published at least seven days before the hearing date.
DISCUSSION:
The tentative annual budget has been made available for public inspection on the City’s website, at the City Clerk’s Office and each branch of the Naperville Public Library as of October 10, 2025, not less than 10 days prior to the December 2, 2025, City Council meeting.
At that meeting, a public hearing on the proposed 2026 Annual Budget will be held, followed by the consideration of an ordinance approving the budget. A Notice of Public Hearing for the proposed 2026 Annual Budget must be published in the newspaper at least seven days prior to holding the hearing. The Notice of Public Hearing is anticipated to be published in the Naperville Sun on or about November 21, 2025.
