BACKGROUND:
Units 064 and 095 were reviewed and approved by the Fleet Services Manager for replacement in the 2025 budget. Vehicles are scored for replacement based on four criteria: age, usage, condition and repair costs. Recommending a vehicle for replacement requires a score of 28.0 or greater. Unit 064 scored 29.83 and Unit 095 scored 40.09.
DISCUSSION:
Unit 064 is a 2010 Ford F550 dump truck with plow and Unit 095 is a 2007 Ford F550 dump used by the Electric Utility - Distribution Division daily to maintain utility infrastructure throughout the City. The retired vehicles will be sold through one of the City's auction companies. Both units will be replaced with 2025 Ford F550 chassis. Unit 064 will be upfit with a 9-foot dump body, plow, and salt spreader. Unit 095 will be upfit with an 11-foot dump body and plow.
The new vehicles are available on the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC), Contract #227, an approved cooperative through Sutton Ford. The cooperative has an expiration date of June 30, 2025. Using the City's specifications, Sutton Ford has quoted the Ford F550 dump trucks in the amount of $205,934 ($107,888 for Unit 064 and $98,046 for Unit 095). Due to extended timeframes between when the chassis are delivered and the upfitting of dump bodies is completed, Sutton Ford is requesting payment for each chassis upon delivery, with the balance due upon completion of the truck build.
The new units are expected to be delivered within eight months of the date of award.
