BACKGROUND:
City Council awarded Contract 22-022 to J. Congdon Sewer Service on April 5, 2022 with a completion date of September 30, 2022.
The purpose of this contract is to replace aging and functionally deficient water mains in the West Highlands and Maplebrook East subdivisions.
At the September 20, 2022 meeting, the City Council approved Change Order #1 to add an additional 67 calendar days to the contract, extending the substantial completion date to December 5, 2022.
DISCUSSION:
This Change Order is requested to extend the substantial completion date from December 5, 2022 to June 30, 2023.
This request is due to a change in scope of the project which involves the re-routing of the proposed water main to serve Bernie Court. The original alignment could not be constructed as designed due to a section of vacated right-of-way preventing a connection to an existing water main.
The schedule for construction of this revision is subject to design engineering work, easement approval on Naperville Park District property (Columbia Commons), IEPA permitting and winter weather constructability. The requested substantial completion date was selected to provide enough time to complete these items.
For these reasons, staff recommends extending the substantial completion date to June 30, 2022.
