BOARD/COMMISSION REVIEW:
N/A

BACKGROUND:
Unit 279 was reviewed and approved by the Fleet Services Manager for replacement in the 2025 budget. Vehicles are scored for replacement based on four criteria: age, usage, condition and repair costs. Recommending a vehicle for replacement requires a score of 28.0 or greater. Unit 279 scored 42.61.

DISCUSSION:
Unit 279 is a 2001 Ford F350 Dump Truck with a Plow used by the Department of Public Works - Operations Division to maintain the Central Business District, including winter operations. The retired vehicle will be sold through one of the City's auction companies. One similar unit has sold in Illinois in the past year; it sold for $6,450.

The Unit will be replaced with a 2025 Ford F550 Hooklift Truck with Dump Body and Plow. The hooklift body provides operational flexibility, as the unit can be used as a flatbed truck to haul equipment and as a dump body to haul materials. The new vehicle is available on the Sourcewell Cooperative, an approved cooperative through Bonnell Industries, Inc., Contract #062222-BNL. Using the City's specifications, Bonnell Industries, Inc. has quoted the hooklift truck in the amount of $146,751.40.

The vehicle will be delivered in approximately 16 months.
