BACKGROUND:
Unit 336 was reviewed and approved by the Fleet Economic Committee and Fleet Services Manager for replacement in the FY2024 budget. Vehicles are scored for replacement based on four criteria: age, usage, condition and repair costs. Recommending a vehicle for replacement requires a score of 28.0 or greater. Unit 336 scored 32.23.

The unit was deferred to 2026 replacement, in line with our plan to replace one ambulance per year. The vehicle will be delivered two years from date of order.

DISCUSSION:
Unit 336 is a 2015 International Horton ambulance used by the Fire Department to provide patient care and transport 24 hours per day for medical emergency calls. The retired vehicle will be sold at auction through the City's auction service provider. Unit 336 will be replaced with a 2025 Horton ambulance on a Ford F550 chassis. The unit is specified to maintain fleet and operational consistency.

The new ambulance is available on the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC), an approved cooperative, through Foster Coach Sales, Inc. contract #214. Using the City's specifications, Foster Coach Sales, Inc. has quoted the ambulance in the amount of $376,731.

A cost breakdown is provided in the table below:

Original Price

$381,331

$376,731

In addition to the cost for the ambulances, moving forward, the City will be required to replace the Stryker Power cot system to fully outfit the vehicle for service. There are two options to replace the Stryker Power Cot system:

1. Procure the system and have Foster Coach install in the Unit or
2. Foster Coach procures and installs the system
