BACKGROUND:
On April 2, 2024, the City Council awarded Bid 23-121 to Miller Pipeline LLC for an amount not to exceed $497,950 to replace 42 existing lead water services with new copper water services. The contract has an approved contingency amount of $24,897.50.
The Lead Water Service Line Replacement Program is a multi-year initiative to replace all known lead water service lines in the City with copper water service. With approximately 300 known lead water services throughout the City, completion of the full program is anticipated to take several years.
This contract includes 42 lead water service replacements in an area generally located between Washington Ave. and Loomis St. and 4th Ave. and Benton Ave.
Work includes the replacement of the entire length of the water service line, from the water main to inside the residence at no cost to the property owner.
DISCUSSION:
Due to favorable bid pricing and the satisfactory performance of Miller Pipeline, staff is requesting to add additional lead service replacements to the project.
This change order includes an agreed unit price for the addition of 15 lead service replacements, along with adjustments to the associated contract pay items. This change order also includes unforeseen extra work items that were deemed necessary to ensure a successful project.
