BACKGROUND:
The City Council awarded Contract 23-077 to Helm Mechanical with an anticipated completion date of July 19, 2024. The rehabilitation work at the South Operations Center includes the replacement of three existing dry pit pumps, replacement of one channel grinder in the wet well, new lighting, and cleaning of the wet well, installation of variable frequency drives (VFDs) for new pumps, and upgrades to the existing SCADA system. Work also includes the installation of associated conduits, wires and concrete pads for new pumps.
DISCUSSION:
As a result of an unforeseen delay in the supply chain for the VFD deliveries, the contractor has submitted a request for a time extension of 169 days. Consequently, the revised project completion date will be December 31, 2024.
The change order is necessary to provide the contractor with sufficient time to acquire the necessary VFDs, complete the installation and testing, and allow for the City’s final acceptance.
