BACKGROUND:

Under New Business at its February 6, 2024 meeting, the City Council directed staff to:

1.                     Bring back an agenda item that eliminates the City Council allocation portion of the Social Services Grant process and allows the review team to allocate the entire $500,000; and

2.                     Bring back an agenda item eliminating the City Council individual funding recommendation component of the Special Events and Community Arts (SECA) Grant Fund Program and states that the City Council approves recommendations as determined by the SECA Commission but retains the option to revise allocations as appropriate.

DISCUSSION:

The City Council will still retain final allocation authority of both grants but will no longer review applications or individually recommend funding prior to approval.

The attached resolution explains both grant processes and authorizes the City Manager to take the necessary action to implement Council direction effective upon its passage and approval.
