BOARD/COMMISSION REVIEW:
The Naperville Liquor Commission voted unanimously to recommend to City Council the proposed revision of the outdoor seating permit to allow for liquor consumption on the public way.  On June 6, 2017, the City Council conducted the first reading and on June 20, 2017 approved Ordinance 17-103 allowing for liquor sales and service on the public way.

BACKGROUND:

Since 1997, the Naperville Municipal Code has allowed for outdoor/sidewalk seating on public property in the Central Business District without liquor service. This permit authorizes the placement of tables, chairs, umbrellas, and allows establishments to serve food and/or non-alcoholic beverages.

DISCUSSION:

Ordinance 17-103 accounts for outdoor/sidewalk seating permitting and includes the existing restrictions outlined in Ordinance 97-158. As such, it is appropriate to repeal Ordinance 97-158.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Fees will be assessed as outlined in Ordinance 17-158.
