BACKGROUND:

On April 18, 2023, the City Council approved Bid 22-277, Naper Boulevard Stormwater Lift Station Rehabilitation, to Martam Construction, Inc for an amount not to exceed $962,740, plus a 3% contingency. The project includes replacing the existing three submersible pumps, pump variable frequency drives (VFD), Motor Control Center (MCC), upgrading the existing SCADA, installation of associated conduits and wires and constructing a new sidewalk to the wet well. The original contract completion date was February 15, 2024.

DISCUSSION:

As a result of a continuous delay in the supply chain for the VFD deliveries, the contractor has submitted a request for a time extension of 259 days. Consequently, the revised project completion date will be October 31, 2024. This Change Order is necessary to provide the contractor with sufficient time to acquire the appropriate VFDs, complete the installation and testing, and allow for the City’s final acceptance. This delay will not cause any operation difficulties and will not result in additional costs for the City.

FISCAL IMPACT:

CIP #: SW041

This change order only adds time to the contract, there is no fiscal impact associated with this extension.
