BACKGROUND:
The City of Naperville has a commemorative/memorial street name sign program to honor people, organizations, or groups who have achieved noteworthy accomplishments and service to the community. Currently, the City has the following commemorative/memorial streets: Judd Kendall Memorial Way (Jackson Avenue), Stenger Commemorative Parkway (Frankin Avenue), Ned Becker Commemorative Parkway (Naper Boulevard), Nitra and Patzcuaro Commemorative Parkways (Aurora Avenue and Webster Street), Chief Robert Worthel Memorial Way (School Street), J. Glenn Schneider Memorial Way (Hillside Road), and Ron Keller Commemorative Way (Central Park Road).
DISCUSSION:
Jackson Avenue, from Washington Street to its terminus, was designated as “Judd Kendall Memorial Way” in 1998 at the request of VFW Post 3873. The VFW post has requested that the street be redesignated as “Judd Kendall 125th Anniversary VFW Memorial Parkway” in honor of the 125th Anniversary of the VFW.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost of the updated signage is estimated to be $150.
