Receive Camera Project Update

SUBMITTED BY:                     Harriet M. Pistorio - Chief Operating Officer

Kelley Neal provided a camera coverage map updated with Ghafari’s recommendations. Naper Settlement staff noted some areas where camera coverage appeared to have gaps, at Webster gate (#33) and at Mansion gate (#34), as two examples. Kelley confirmed that the coverage map provided did not include replacement cameras. We are currently waiting for Ghafari to update the coverage map to include all proposed cameras, new and replacements, so that we can either sign off or let them know where there are still coverage gaps.

Kelley Neal also provided maps that include requested card readers. The maps used for Pre-Emption House were ventilation system maps. It was difficult for Ghafari and even Naper Settlement staff to visualize each door on those maps. Naper Settlement has provided evacuation maps instead, since they are extremely clear. Maps and the list of proposed card readers have been updated since the Naper Settlement executive team met with Assistant to the City Manager Marcie Schatz, City Manager Doug Krieger, and Police Chief Jason Arres to assess card reader access needs. Nine proposed card readers were eliminated as a result.

Kelley Neal has informed us that Naperville PD did a study and determined the parking lot at Porter and Webster does not need any cameras. Naper Settlement staff is concerned because the proposed cameras at Naper Settlement will not capture the parking lot due to trees. During events, staff frequently exists through that gate alone after dark.
