BOARD/COMMISSION REVIEW:
At their February 8, 2023 meeting the Riverwalk Commission unanimously voted to add one member to represent the Commission on the Riverwalk Bicentennial Fund Foundation.
BACKGROUND:
During the last several years the Riverwalk Commission completed the 2031 Master Plan and started design work on several projects. The Commission recognized that fundraising would be necessary to implement many of the projects, and discussions were held with the Riverwalk Foundation. Desiring to support its mission to promote, educate and enhance the Riverwalk, the Riverwalk Foundation was hesitant to participate in fundraising and accepting funds to support projects in the Master Plan.
Therefore, a second foundation named the Riverwalk Bicentennial Fund Foundation was recently established. The main purpose of the Riverwalk Bicentennial Fund Foundation is to fundraise and accept all contributions toward the improvements included in the Riverwalk 2031 Master Plan.
The Riverwalk Foundation has no objection to establishing a second foundation to support the Master Plan.
DISCUSSION:
On February 8 the Riverwalk Commission discussed the new Riverwalk Bicentennial Fund Foundation and voted unanimously to recommend amending Title 2 of the Municipal Code to add one member to represent the Commission on the Riverwalk Bicentennial Fund Foundation.
The attached ordinance makes the appropriate changes to add the one commissioner.
