BACKGROUND:
Pursuant to 5/8-2-9.9 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes the tentative annual budget must be made available to the public at least ten days prior to its adoption. A public hearing must then be conducted before the adoption of the annual budget and notice of that public hearing must be published at least one week before the hearing date.
DISCUSSION:
On October 19, 2020 the tentative annual budget has been made available for public inspection on the City’s website, at the City Clerk’s Office, and at each branch of the Naperville Public Library. At the December 1, 2020 City Council meeting a public hearing on the Proposed 2021 Annual Budget will be held, followed by the consideration of an ordinance approving the budget.
A Notice of Public Hearing for the Proposed 2021 Annual Budget must be published in the newspaper at least seven days prior to holding the hearing. The Notice of Public Hearing is anticipated to be published in the Naperville Sun on November 22, 2020.
