BACKGROUND:
The City Manager awarded Work Order 22-067-0.I.00-WU to CMT on March 4, 2024, with a completion date of July 2, 2024.
The scope of work for Work Order 22-067-0.I.00-WU was for CMT to manage agency permitting and prepare construction documents for a water main rehabilitation at the northwest quadrant of Interstate 88 and IL Route 59. Rehabilitation would include the installation of a cured-in-place pipe liner inside an existing ductile iron pipe that is located in a regulated wetland area.
DISCUSSION:
This Change Order is requested to compensate for additional costs necessary to satisfactorily complete the engineering design and to extend the completion date from July 2, 2024, to December 31, 2026.
Due to budget considerations and the extent of permitting, the scope of work was revised and re-budgeted as WU425 Odyssey West Water Main Improvements. This change in scope required additional wetland delineation to be performed by CMT. Additionally, DuPage County determined that a tabular permit submittal would be required for this work, something that was not anticipated or deemed necessary at the start of design.
The additional effort for these tasks, along with the revised schedule, required a significant extension of the original completion date.
Staff recommends approval of this Change Order to ensure that the engineering design can be completed as required.
