BACKGROUND:

This competition was traditionally hosted by Benedictine University, the event was moved to Naperville Central High School (NCHS) in 2021. NCHS has requested the same arrangement for 2026.

DISCUSSION:

Throughout the day, 15 bands totaling approximately 1,500 students will walk to and from NCHS parking lots and Knoch Park. As such, NCHS has made a request to close Hillside Avenue from West Street to Webster Street for the safety of participants and spectators.

The street closure details for the event are depicted on the attached map. An ordinance is required to amend the Naperville Traffic Schedule beginning at 11:00 a.m. The streets will open to vehicular traffic and the No Parking/Tow Zone signs will be removed at 9:00 p.m. or as soon as deemed appropriate by the Naperville Police Department.

All insurance requirements will be fulfilled prior to the issuance of the Special Event Permit.
