BACKGROUND:
Sponsored by Star Events, the inaugural Festa Italiana event is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2019 and end at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Naper Settlement. The event features an Italian cultural celebration featuring food, live entertainment, a circus, cooking demonstrations, a wine garden, and artisans.
DISCUSSION:
Specific temporary traffic control information for the event is depicted on the attached map and ordinance. An ordinance is required in order to close Porter Street for the installation of a circus tent in the parking lot directly behind Naper Settlement. Porter Street will be closed beginning approximately 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2019 and will remain closed until Monday, August 5, 2019 at 4:00 p.m.
Porter Street will reopen to vehicular traffic and the No Parking signs removed as soon as the Naperville Police Department determines it appropriate based on public safety.
Hours for the event are as follows:
• Friday, August 1, 2019 - 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
• Saturday, August 2, 2019 - 12:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
• Sunday, August 3, 2019 - 12:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
The event organizers are expecting between 7,500 - 10,000 attendees over the three-day festival.
Staff will post information signs along the street beginning Friday, July 26, 2019.
All other matters including insurance will be satisfied prior to the event.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Star Events will be billed for all the City services required to support this event.
