BACKGROUND:
The St. Paddy’s Day 5K will be held prior to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 11, 2023. The run will begin at approximately 8:00 a.m. and is anticipated to draw 2,000 participants.
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. Both organizations are requesting an amplifier permit beginning at 7:00 a.m.
DISCUSSION:
Street closures
The run will require temporary street closures beginning at approximately 7:15 a.m. The parade will immediately follow and kick off at 10:00 a.m.
The run and parade routes only will be posted No Parking/Tow Zone from 5:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. All streets will reopen and signage removed by 11:30 a.m. or as deemed appropriate by the Naperville Police Department based on public safety.
Staff will post informational signs along the route beginning Monday, March 6. Information regarding the route and traffic control plans will be available on both the organizers and City’s websites. All insurance requirements will be fulfilled prior to the issuance of both Special Event permits.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The SECA Commission has recommended funding for both the West Suburban Irish and the Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise. Award amounts will be finalized after approval by the City Council on February 21. Any City service costs in excess of the grant funds will be billed to the organizers.
