BACKGROUND:
The City Council awarded RFQ 18-027, Architectural and Engineering Services, on December 4, 2018, for a two-year term, with four one-year options to extend.
The City Council approved the first option year on October 20, 2020, and the second option year on November 16, 2021. The third option year was approved by the City Council on December 6, 2022, and the last option year was approved on November 7, 2023.
On July 16, 2024, City Council approved the award of Change Order #2 to Option Year #4 of Contract 18-027, Architectural and Engineering Services, to Kluber Architects and Engineers and Legat Architects, Inc., for an amount not to exceed $85,000.00 for plans and specifications to convert the bunk rooms at Fire Station #1 and #3 to dorm-style rooms to address inclusivity and privacy.
DISCUSSION:
Upon commencement of the contractor's demolition operations, existing under-slab ductwork that was intended to be modified as part of the work was found to be entirely encased in concrete, making it impossible to successfully expose and re-work. The decision was to run new supply ducts in the attic space and abandon a portion of the under-slab supply ductwork. Additional days are added to this change order to cover the time that Kluber Inc. still owes the City of Naperville for construction management of the project that has an anticipated completion date of September 30, 2025.

This Change Order extends the number of days on the contract, not the contract amount.
