BACKGROUND:
The Request for Proposals (RFP) for the structural engineering work was released in March 2021, with the expectation for construction to be completed by November 15, 2021. The construction contract for the project, 21-275 Springbrook Water Reclamation Center Structural Repairs, was awarded September 7, 2021 with the construction contract completion date of December 31, 2021.
On April 30, 2021, the City Manager approved the award of Contract 21-163. The contract provides for technical evaluation and structural engineering for five structural engineering tasks at Springbrook Water Reclamation Center. Due to the existing heavy workload of the Water Utilities engineering staff, various construction phase services were also outsourced to Deuchler Engineering via Change Order #1.
DISCUSSION:
Due to construction delays the City must extend consulting services until construction is completed. This change order is requesting an additional 105 days, revising the final contract completion date to March 1, 2022. No additional funds are needed for consulting services.
FISCAL IMPACT:
CIP: WW041
Consultant services for structural repairs at Springbrook Water Reclamation Center are expensed to the infrastructure account listed below, as part of the capital improvement program. A total of $1,653,400 is budgeted for WW041 in 2022.
