BACKGROUND:
The City Council awarded contract 23-242 to Volt Electric, Inc. on December 19, 2023, for a one-year term from the date of award until December 31, 2024, with three one-year options to extend. City Council approved Option Year #1 on May 20, 2025, for a seven-month term from the date of award until December 31, 2025.

The Water Utilities requires the service of a licensed and bonded electrical contractor to provide on-call labor, materials, equipment and expertise in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of electrical components located at all water supply locations, wastewater pump stations and the Springbrook Water Reclamation Center.

DISCUSSION:
During both the original contract terms and the first option year of the contract, Volt Electric, Inc. has performed various electrical repairs at several water sites, including thermal imaging of all Motor Control Centers.

Volt Electric, Inc. is requesting a 2.3% increase due to increasing labor costs, which staff finds reasonable. Based on the vendor's performance, staff recommends extending the contract for the second option year.

The term for the second option year is from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026, with one option year remaining.
