BACKGROUND:
The City Council awarded Contract 22-212 to CDM Smith, Inc. on September 6, 2022, with a completion date of May 31, 2025. The purpose of this contract is to provide design engineering and construction management services for the Springbrook Water Reclamation Center Influent Pump Station and South Plant Force Main Improvement Project.
The construction contract was awarded to Williams Brothers, Inc. on November 7, 2023, with an anticipated completion date of May 31, 2025. Construction delays have subsequently shifted this date to May 2026.
DISCUSSION:
Change Order #1 is requested to compensate for supplemental construction management services and to extend the completion date from May 31, 2025 to December 31, 2026.
The need for additional costs and time for engineering services is related to delays on Williams Brothers' construction contract. Construction delays have resulted in the completion date shifting from May 31, 2025, to May 2026. This Change Order encompasses the necessary effort to extend construction management services and also to close out the project upon completion.
Staff recommends approval of this Change Order to ensure management services are provided for the remainder of construction.
