DISCUSSION:
Public Act 103-311 amended the Illinois Open Meetings Act to add “unexpected childcare obligation” to the permissible reasons for a member of a public body to attend a meeting by telephonic or video means. The attached ordinance amends the Naperville Municipal Code to allow remote participation by City Council members for personal illness or disability, employment purposes or other public business, a family or other emergency or an unexpected childcare obligation.
This amendment was included for Board and Commission members in the update of Title 2 approved by the City Council in January 2024.
