ACTION REQUESTED:
title

Approve the award of Change Order #1 to Contract 23-034, Single and Three Phase Transformer Qualifications, to add Deco Supply Company dba United Utility Supply

body

DEPARTMENT:                     Electric Utility

SUBMITTED BY:                     Brian Groth, Director

BACKGROUND:

Electric utilities use distribution transformers to supply the correct type of power to residential and commercial customers.

The Naperville Electric Utility (Utility) currently has approximately 8,900 distribution transformers installed throughout the City. Electric purchases new single and three-phase

distribution transformers every year to replace units as part of normal maintenance operations of the City’s power grid and to support new construction of homes, businesses and service upgrades for things like electric vehicle chargers.

Due to delays in the supply-chain, a new transformer lead time has increased from four to six months to three to four-years. The original award allowed for the RFQ response time to remain open through the end of the contract term, to give the Utility, the opportunity to identify new vendors in the market.

DISCUSSION:

Staff is continuously seeking vendors and options to obtain transformers. Staff has identified a new distributor that can provide the type of transformers the Utility needs.

This Change Order is requested to add a Deco Supply Company to the contract.

No additional funds are requested as part of this change order.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Change Order adds a vendor to an already existing contract, there is no direct fiscal impact associated with this award.
