BACKGROUND:
The Electric Utility (Utility) has been using Oracle Database Software since 2011 as a key component of the smart grid infrastructure. This yearly maintenance agreement is required to accommodate the Meter Data Management System (MDMS) implemented at the Electric Service Center and the Municipal Center. The MDMS directly supports utility billing, the Empower customer portal, and conservation voltage reduction in addition to allowing the Utility to analyze its consumption data and make more efficient decisions on infrastructure projects.
DISCUSSION:
This request is to renew the annual licensing and maintenance contract so that the Utility can receive software updates as well as technical support.
The Utility has identified an approved cooperative contract, State of Illinois Cooperative Contract 21-448DOIT-INFOT-P-20893 through Mythics, Inc., for the procurement of the Oracle Support renewal. The term for support begins January 13, 2021 and ends January 12, 2022.

Oracle Support is expensed to the Software & Hardware Maintenance account listed below. A total of $139,010.30 was budgeted for this expense in 2021. The requested award is within the budgeted amount for this expense.
