BACKGROUND:
The Water Utilities use an outside contractor to remove and replace sanitary sewer manholes and associated connections to existing sanitary sewer and services throughout the City. The sanitary manholes being replaced range from 80 to 100 years old and are part of the inflow and infiltration reduction program. Most were rehabilitated approximately 20 years ago, but further rehabilitation is no longer possible. The manholes are recommended for full replacement. The City Manager approved the original award of Contract 18-126 on July 26, 2018 for one year with two one-year options to extend.
DISCUSSION:
Sheridan Plumbing & Sewer performed well during the original award term. The firm replaced five sanitary manholes during the original term and will replace eight manhole structures during the first option year. Staff negotiated a zero-percent increase for the extension.
The term of the first option year is January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019, with one additional option year remaining.
