BACKGROUND:
The Riverwalk 2031 Master Plan includes a project to extend the Riverwalk from Hillside Road to Martin Avenue. This will provide pedestrian connectivity from Downtown to Edward Hospital along the West Branch of the DuPage River.
Bidding and award of the project is expected in late 2026. Construction is expected to commence in 2026 with most of the work occurring in 2027.
DISCUSSION:
The Riverwalk consultant team will provide an overview of the pre-final design of the project. The Committee’s feedback on detailed design issues such as the gateway separating bicycle and pedestrian facilities and low flow walkway aesthetics is requested. See the attached exhibits.
