BACKGROUND:
In January 2023, the Water Utilities issued Bid 23-007, 2023 Lateral Grouting Brookdale Phase 1. The work included testing and grouting of 42 six-inch diameter sanitary sewer service laterals in the Brookdale subdivision. The Water Utilities has been chemically grouting sanitary service lateral since 2016 and the program has resulted in outstanding results in reducing groundwater and rain-derived infiltration and inflow from entering the wastewater collection system and preventing basement backups.

The Lateral Grouting Program is part of the City's ten-year Infiltration and Inflow Reduction Program, required and registered with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.

This is the first phase of an estimated 14 phases of sanitary lateral chemical grouting in the Brookdale area.

Lateral grouting is expensed to the account number listed below for a total budget of $198,000. The requested award including the contingency exceeds the budget by $4734. The contingency will be funded through savings in the Water Utility's operating budget. Staff will monitor expenses throughout the year to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines.
