BACKGROUND:
The City Council approved the recommendations regarding boards and commissions, with the exception of the Sister Cities recommendations, and directed staff to prepare ordinances reflecting the changes. The recommendations will require changes to multiple sections of Title 2 (Boards and Commissions) and will be presented to the City Council in the upcoming months.
DISCUSSION:
The attached ordinance includes changes to the membership sections of the Building Review Board, Public Utilities Advisory Board, and the Historic Preservation Commission as presented on November 7, 2023.
Building Review Board
• Add designated seats for life safety/fire science and structural engineering.
• Add flexibility for cases where designated seats cannot be filled
Public Utilities Advisory Board
• Expand membership from five to seven members
Historic Preservation Commission
• Remove Planning and Zoning Commission delegate and replace with a general public seat
