BACKGROUND:

The City Council awarded Contract 23-006 to Schroeder & Schroeder on April 18, 2023 with a completion date of October 1, 2023.  The purpose of this contract is to repair sidewalk locations that meet the City’s defect criteria or require accessibility improvements.

 

On August 15, 2023, the City Council approved Change Order #1 to award an additional $49,386.50 due to additional necessary repairs that were identified during the course of the work.

 

DISCUSSION:

This Change Order is requested to extend the contract duration through next spring in order to address various restoration and punchlist items. Specifically, one sidewalk location had to be replaced several times due to a structure in the sidewalk that needed to be adjusted and then repeated footprints in the concrete.  Some other repairs were identified after it was too late to complete due to weather, so they will need to be done next spring.

 

The amount of this Change Order increases the original contract expiration date by 243 days, extending the construction completion date to May 31, 2024.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no direct fiscal impact to this change order, this change order is an extension of time.
