BACKGROUND:
The Electric Utility (Utility) has used Oracle database software since 2011 to store, validate, and manage its metering data. This software is the industry standard for this application and is fully integrated with the Utility’s meter data management system (MDMS) and Empower customer portal.
DISCUSSION:
The Oracle annual license allows the Utility to continue to operate the software, obtain updates to remediate security vulnerabilities and receive technical support for issues beyond the expertise of City staff.
Staff has identified an approved State of Illinois cooperative contract, IL DOIT CMT1116440, through Mythics, LLC, for the procurement of the Oracle support renewal.
The term of the contract is one year, from January 13, 2026 to January 12, 2027.
FISCAL IMPACT:
CIP#: N/A
Oracle database software is expensed to the Software and Hardware Maintenance account listed below. This award is for the 2026-2027 service period, and as a result, the expense associated with this award will not be realized until 2026. While the 2026 budget is still being developed, staff will ensure there is sufficient funding included to support this award.
