BACKGROUND:
Units 712, 713, 721 and 756 were approved by the Fleet Services Manager for replacement in the 2026 budget. Vehicles are scored for replacement based on four criteria: age, usage, condition, and repair costs. Recommending a vehicle to be replaced requires a score of 23.0 or greater. Unit 712 scored 23.5, Unit 713 scored 27.6, Unit 721 scored 24.0, and Unit 756 scored 30.4.
DISCUSSION:
Units 712, 713, 721, and 756 are 2017 Ford F150 pickup trucks used by the Water Utilities' Repair & Excavation, Construction Engineering, Collection, and Utility Inspection Divisions to transport personnel and tools required to install, repair, and maintain water utility infrastructure throughout the City. The retired vehicles will be sold through one of the City's auction companies. The units will be replaced with 2026 Ford F150 pickup trucks for the same operational uses. Staff has identified an approved cooperative contract, Suburban Purchasing Cooperative Contract #232 Ford F150XL, through Currie Motors, for the procurement of the new vehicles.
Using the City's specifications, Currie Motors has quoted the pickup trucks in the amount of $186,472 ($46,618 per vehicle); a cost breakdown is provided below.
