BOARD/COMMISSION REVIEW:
NA

BACKGROUND:

The Riverwalk Bicentennial Fund was formed as a 501c3 foundation with the purpose of fund-raising specifically for projects included in the Naperville Riverwalk 2031 Master Plan.  The Riverwalk Bicentennial Fund is separate and has different purposes than the Naperville Riverwalk Foundation.

DISCUSSION:

In anticipation of donations that will be made to the Riverwalk Bicentennial Fund members of the Fund have drafted the attached Donor Recognition Policy.  The following was submitted to me by Fund member John Joseph:

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Riverwalk Bicentennial Fund, I would like to submit our draft Donor Recognition Policy for endorsement by the Riverwalk Commission.  The objectives of this policy are to establish Riverwalk 2031 Fund gift levels, gift ranges, and for each level/range the types of donor appreciation, communications; and, asset recognition, naming, and construction.  Our desire is to introduce this at the May Commission meeting for discussion and endorsement at the June meeting.

I recommend that Riverwalk Commission members provide feedback and comments at the May 8 meeting such that we can consider endorsing their donor recognition policy at our June Riverwalk Commission meeting.
