TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY BOARD AGENDA ITEM
ACTION REQUESTED:
title
Recommend approval to remove parking restrictions on Triton Lane and Catalpa Lane
body
DEPARTMENT: Transportation, Engineering and Development
SUBMITTED BY: Sydney Smith, Transportation Project Manager
BACKGROUND:
The City received a request to remove parking restrictions on Triton Lane and Catalpa Lane.
No Parking, Stopping, or Standing is currently allowed between 8:30 - 9:00 am, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, and 2:30 - 3:00 pm Monday through Friday on the north side of Triton Ln. No Parking, Stopping, or Standing is currently allowed from the centerline of Triton Ln. to 40’ south of the centerline of Triton Ln. and from the centerline of Catalpa Ln. to a point 40’ east of centerline of Catalpa Ln.
The requesting resident expressed that the conditions that prompted the parking restrictions at this location no longer exist.
DISCUSSION:
City staff investigated this concern and found that the parking restrictions on Triton Lane and Catalpa Lane were established in 2001 to manage parent pick up and drop off at Creative Nursery School located at 120 Triton Lane.
Creative Nursery School is no longer in operation and the property is now a single-family home. Staff felt that the No Parking, Stopping, or Standing restrictions are no longer appropriate as it prevents residents from midday use of the street.
Staff sent out a survey to the 16 adjacent residents on both sides of the street of Triton Lane Catalpa Lane. The responses received are shown in the table below:
Support |

The results of the resident survey showed one hundred percent (100%) of the residents are in support of removing the parking restrictions. Per prior TAB guidance, a no-response is considered in support of the recommendation. A minimum of 60% resident support is needed for TAB consideration.
Attached is an existing parking restrictions and proposed parking modification map.
