BOARD/COMMISSION REVIEW:

BACKGROUND:
The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the challenges faced by the Fire Department in effectively isolating and quarantining personnel. Furthermore, the increasing diversity within the workforce has created a demand for enhanced privacy in the stations. As such, the Fire Department has begun modernizing its existing barrack-style bunk room and common bathroom/showers.
This renovation request will transform the common sleeping and bathing areas in Stations #1 and #3 into individual bunks and single-use bathrooms/showers. All updates will comply with the current ADA requirements and building codes.
This is part of a capital project to renovate several stations over the next three years.
