title
Approve the award of Cooperative Procurement 22-083, Vehicle Replacements, for Unit 158 (2013 Ford Utility Interceptor), 166 (2017 Dodge Charger), and 184 (2017 Ford Utility Interceptor) to Sutton Ford for an amount not to exceed $114,912
body
DEPARTMENT: Department of Public Works
SUBMITTED BY: Richard Dublinski, Director
BACKGROUND:
Units 158, 166, and 184 were reviewed and approved by the Fleet Economic Committee and Fleet Services Manager for replacement in the CY2022 budget. Vehicles are scored for replacement based on four criteria: age, usage, condition and repair costs. Recommending a vehicle for replacement requires a score of 23.0 or greater.
Unit 158 scored 31.38, Unit 166 scored 28, and Unit 184 scored 25.47
DISCUSSION:
Unit 158 (2013 Ford Utility Interceptor), 166 (2017 Dodge Charger), and 184 (2017 Ford Utility Interceptor) are shared and used daily for emergency call response and traffic patrol.
All three units will be replaced with 2022 Ford F150 4x4 Police Responder pickup trucks, identically specified to maintain fleet conformity and operational flexibility.
The Police Department fleet currently includes Ford Utility Interceptor, Dodge Charger sedans, and Chevy Tahoe SUVs. The pickup trucks provide the Police Department with an alternative to the Dodge Charger and Chevy Tahoe, which have higher maintenance and operating costs than Ford Utility Explorers.
Eliminating the Chargers and Tahoes from the fleet will reduce operating costs and inventory burdens associated with those units. The Police Department plans to rotate existing Chevy Tahoes into higher use roles to expedite their removal from the fleet.
The 2022 Ford F150 4x4 Responder is available on the SPC Cooperative, an approved cooperative through Sutton Ford, Contract #179. Sutton Ford quoted $38,304 per unit as specified, totaling $114,912 for three units.
The new units will be delivered in approximately nine months. The retired units will be sold at auction.
