BACKGROUND:
In January 2019, the Water Utilities issued Bid 19-064, SCADA Maintenance Services, to contract with a firm for maintenance and troubleshooting services on the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, which remotely monitors and operates the City’s water supply, storm water pumping and wastewater facilities. Work under this contract includes scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of remote terminal units, human machine interface (HMI) and programmable logic controller (PLC) equipment at the Springbrook Water Reclamation Center and equipment located throughout the City’s water supply, water distribution, storm water pumping and sanitary sewer collection systems.

Advanced Automation and Controls has successfully completed other projects with the City. The term of this contract is from May 1, 2019 through April 30, 2020, with four one-year options to extend the contract.

SCADA maintenance is expensed to the operational services accounts listed below. A total of $68,000 is budgeted for various SCADA parts and maintenance items in 2019. The remainder of this award will be budgeted appropriately in 2020. The requested award is within budget.

Per City Council directive, contingency on construction projects is set at 3% on projects over $500,000 and 5% on projects under $500,000
