BACKGROUND:
The Municipal Code (Section 2-1-14) requires that City Council representatives to boards and commissions be approved by a majority of the City Council. City Council members appointed to boards and commissions shall serve as liaisons for the City Council, providing accurate information in their official capacity as a member of the City Council. The representative is an ex officio, non-voting member of the board or commission, unless specifically granted voting power, and is not counted for the purpose of establishing a quorum unless specifically stated as such in the Municipal Code.
Partner Organizations
Partner organizations that receive dedicated funding from the City and regional membership organizations also have City Council members serving as liaisons. Partner organizations include DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference, Naperville Community Television, Naperville Development Partnership, Downtown Naperville Alliance, and Downtown Advisory Subcommittee of the Downtown Naperville Alliance. The City has removed the NEST liaison to be consistent with other community task forces (Senior Task Force and Accessible Community Task Force), and in recognition that NEST does not receive dedicated City funding. All City Council members have the opportunity and ability to regularly interact with these task forces.
