BACKGROUND:
Sponsored by the Naperville Jaycees, the Last Fling is scheduled for September 4 through September 7, 2026, on Jackson Avenue. The Labor Day Parade will be held on Monday, September 7, 2026. The entire event features live entertainment, food vendors, and a carnival.
DISCUSSION:
Event organizers have met with the Special Events Team which includes representatives from the Park District, Endeavor Health Edward Hospital, and the Downtown Naperville Alliance to coordinate event logistics.
For the fifth year, the carnival, live entertainment, expo and food vendors will be located solely on Jackson Avenue.
Road closures, detours, and temporary No Parking/Tow Zones for the entire event are shown on the attached maps. Specific traffic control details are shown in the ordinance.
Dates, Hours, Amplification, and Ancillary Event Information:
Following are the dates and hours for the 2026 Last Fling:
Friday, September 4, 5 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Saturday, September 5, 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Sunday, September 6, 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. (the carnival will be open from 10 a.m. - noon for kids with special needs only)
Monday, September 7, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Please note that from September 4 - September 6, the carnival will close at 10 p.m. On September 7 the carnival will close at 6 p.m.
The schedule of events on September 7 are as follows:
• Labor Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m.
• The Last Fling will open once the parade has ended
All insurance requirements will be fulfilled prior to the issuance of the Special Event permit for the Last Fling.
Several security features will remain in effect:
• no patron under 18 will be admitted without a parent or guardian over the age of 25;
• only clear bags will be permitted; and
• all attendees will be subject to a metal detector screening.
Resident Notification:
As with all events, event organizers are responsible for notifying residents. The Naperville Jaycees will provide notification no less than two weeks prior to the event.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Naperville Jaycees have received a total of $196,337 in SECA Grant funds to cover the cost of City Services ($146,337) and Operations ($50,000) required for the event. Any City service costs in excess of the grant award will be billed to the organizers.
