BACKGROUND:

The City Council awarded Contract 25-289 to Triggi Construction, Inc. on October 21, 2025, with a completion date of May 30, 2026. The purpose of this contract is to improve walkability throughout the City per the Comprehensive Sidewalk Policy.

 

This contract is the last of the three-year program approved by the City Council in July 2023.

 

DISCUSSION:

The steep parkway grades in this neighborhood created difficult field conditions that necessitated extra work, including additional pavement removal, HMA asphalt pavement placement, and sod restoration. Staff also worked with several adjacent residents to adjust the sidewalk locations to address concerns related to their driveways and existing trees. Lastly, 4" PVC drainpipes were encountered within the proposed sidewalk alignment, which needed to be rerouted in the field.

 

This contract was approved with a 5% contingency of $15,467.15. To date, no contingency has been utilized. This Change Order is being requested to authorize additional funds in the amount of $9,271.78 beyond the existing contingency. Staff requests use of available contingency funds along with an additional $9,271.78 for a total Change Order amount of $24,738.93.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The Sidewalk Improvement Program is expensed to the Infrastructure account listed below. In 2026, TED included $325,000 in the budget for CS006, the New Sidewalk Improvement Program. It is anticipated that the requested Change Order can be accommodated within the budget.
