SUBMITTED BY: James Holzapfel, Water Utilities Director
BOARD/COMMISSION REVIEW:
N/A
BACKGROUND:
The Water Utilities issued Bid 17-043 seeking contractors to complete the demolition and installation of new bar screens, washer and press equipment, slide gates, process piping, plumbing, ventilation, electrical and instrumentation and control at the Springbrook Water Reclamation Center.
The existing screening equipment was originally installed in 1981 and operates 365 days a year. The equipment is at the end of useful economic life. Additionally, the current bar screens are not satisfactory for future process changes needed to implement phosphorous removal. The proposed project will replace the existing screening equipment with finer screens and a fully automated system required for plant operations. Finer screening will reduce the amount of debris that enters and disrupts the treatment process.
