DEPARTMENT:                     Transportation, Engineering and Development

SUBMITTED BY:                     William J. Novack, Director

BACKGROUND:

The purpose of the Comprehensive Sidewalk Plan (“Plan”) is to improve walkability throughout the City.

In 2019, the selection process for the New Sidewalk Program was revised to help better prioritize the remaining sidewalk gaps in the City as identified in the Plan.  Using this process, a two-year program identifying the next set of sidewalk gaps to be filled was created and then approved by TAB and City Council.

For the first year of the program, in June 2021, the Transportation, Engineering and Development (TED) Business Group issued Bid 21-232, 2021 New Sidewalk Improvements Program.

The 2021 program will install the higher-scoring sidewalk gaps (list shown below).  The Porter Avenue location, originally proposed for the first year of the program, was postponed to the second year.

Eagle Street, east side between 13th and 14th Avenue

Sleight Street, east side from Ogden Avenue north to dead end

Sleight Street, west side between Porter and Highland Avenue

Washington Street, east side between Pioneer Park and Gartner Road

Webster Street, west side between Ogden and 10th Avenue

Wehrl Drive, east side between View Court and Hillside Road

Willow Road, west side between Maple Lane and Hillside Road
