CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM
ACTION REQUESTED:
title
Approve the award of Cooperative Procurement 26-151, Police Evidence Room Mobile Shelving Systems, to Bradford Systems Corporation for an amount not to exceed $133,960
body
DEPARTMENT: Police Department
SUBMITTED BY: Jason Arres, Chief of Police
BOARD/COMMISSION REVIEW:
N/A
BACKGROUND:
As part of Capital Improvement Project MB219, Police Department Building Renovations, the City recently awarded a contract for the demolition, reconstruction, building system and fixture upgrades, casework installation, and flooring and ceiling replacement. The project is intended to improve functionality, workflow, and operational efficiency within the Police Department facility. In addition to the construction work, modifications to the existing evidence storage systems are required to support the renovated spaces and operational needs that were not included within the construction contract.
DISCUSSION:
Due to the specialized nature of the work and the need to maintain compatibility with the existing storage systems, the shelving scope is being procured separately from the general construction contract. The previously awarded construction contract did not include the storage and shelving scope because it involves specialized high-density mobile shelving systems and proprietary components that require manufacturer-specific expertise for design, modification, and installation. In addition to furnishing new components, the project requires integration with existing shelving systems, relocation of existing equipment, and reuse of compatible components.
Staff has identified an approved cooperative contract, Sourcewell Cooperative Contract 110923-SPC, through Bradford Systems, for the procurement of the shelving and storage systems, including installation.
The anticipated completion date of the project is October 19, 2026.
FISCAL IMPACT:
CIP #: MB219 - Police Department Building Renovation
