BACKGROUND:

The Transportation, Engineering and Development Business Group issued Bid 18-004 seeking vendors to perform annual street patching throughout the City.  The project involves replacing isolated sections of deteriorated pavement with hot-mix asphalt to varying depths, depending upon severity.  The strategy is typically used on streets in relatively good condition, but exhibiting isolated defects.  The streets do not warrant resurfacing and can be substantially upgraded by patching problem areas.  Through this project, permanent patches are installed to take care of potholes developed over winter months.  This maintenance program prolongs the life of streets, ultimately saving money.
